Radio Ranger Propeller Shaft Removal

YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR NEW RADIO RANGER RC FISHING BOAT IN TIP-TOP RUNNING CONDITION.

Oiling the propeller shafts occasionally will keep things running smoothly.

 

Although dripping oil down the shaft is ok too, you may remove the shaft, clean and oil it. The main thing to remember is not to remove the C-ring, putting that back on is difficult and getting it to stay on rarely works.

The propeller assembly consists of 4 main parts. #1 Silicone Washer, #2 Dog Gear, #3 Washer, #4 Nut. A good idea is to apply a small drop of Super Glue or Loc-Tite on the propeller nut to keep it tight at all times.

Each Propeller turns in a different direction. When replacing propellers or  the propeller nuts there are two things to remember. #1 is each propeller has a letter stamped on it to identify which side it belongs, L-for Left Side, and R-for Right Side. #2 to keep in mind also it that each of the propeller nuts are different. One of the propeller nuts have left handed threads. For those that are not familiar with left handed threads, instead of spinning to the left to loosen it, spin it to the right. So if one of your propeller nuts seems like it is tightening instead of loosening then just spin the nut the other way. The same goes for tightening the nut, instead of turning the nut to the right to tighten it turn it to the left.

Fishing is similar to hunting in many ways, right? Hunters dump a bushel of apples or corn in the woods to attract deer to their hunting spot. Eventually the deer find the bait and will go there every day to feed expecting a free meal. There’s no big difference, for Bluegills, Bass, Catfish, Pike, Carp….fish are always on the prowl for a free meal, and can be baited to a hook too. Anyone that’s ever thrown a hand-full of breadcrumbs from their dock knows this secret to attracting fish. Chumming or baiting for fish was done hundreds of years ago. Hundreds of years ago they didn’t have the sophisticated equipment we have today, but their method was effective for attracting fish. The thinking was if you could catch a fish with a worm or bug on a hook couldn’t you attract a bunch of fish if you threw a bunch of worms or bugs in the water? Of course!  The early fishermen would take the rotting corpse of an animal and hang it from a tree limb overhanging the edge of the water. In a short time the flys lay eggs on it, the fly eggs, (maggots) fall off the rotting animal and the fish come to find the source of this free food.  Although that would work today there are easier ways and specialized  equipment to create a very productive fishing spot.

Hundreds of years ago they didn’t have the sophisticated equipment we have today, but their methods were effective for attracting schools of fish.

Whether freshwater fishing or saltwater fishing there are easy recipes to  start chumming.  If you’re fortunate enough to have a fishing spot and want to attract big fish to the spot then you are a good candidate to try a bait boat.

This fishing (chumming) technique is known by fishermen throughout the world, the only thing is the methods have changed. Today most sporting goods stores sell small bags of pre-made chum for freshwater fishing and saltwater fishing, and homemade recipes for chum you can make with regular kitchen ingredients are as close as clicking on youtube.

When reviewing a rc boat especially when you’re using it for fishing is considering the body, (hull) and the electronics inside. Comparatively speaking rc boats range in hull size and what its made of. Second is the electronics and the features.
Lets compare hull materials on rc boats and the Radio Ranger. The Radio Ranger’s hull is abs, (Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene ). Discovered during World War II, it is very impact resistant. Abs plastic also provides a lightweight alternative to fiberglass. When comparing rc boat hulls fiberglass hulls although very sturdy, the contribute to the overall cost of rc boat. The Radio Ranger hull is made from vacuum forming two sheets of abs plastic to form a top and a bottom for the boat, then the top and bottom are glued together. “Hobby Grade or Not”?
The electronics are also a factor in rc boat performance, the question is how many features do you want in a rc boat you’re going to use for fishing? The Radio Ranger provides a very simple radio control system, no needless features to drive up the cost either. The Radio Ranger electronics give you a 300-400 foot range, and the ability to go straight, left and right. What you do not get which a “Hobby Grade” rc usually boat has are features like: water cooling for the motors, a servo steering system, and an esc, (electronic speed controller). For taking your line out again a hobby grade rc boat is not necessary but one nice feature on hobby grade rc boats is the esc, (electronic speed control). The esc enables you do drive the boat at any speed, instead of just one speed. The Radio Ranger is a one speed model, gets the line out fast. A trick to slow the one speed rc boats is instead of the 7.2 volt battery is to use a smaller one like a 4.8 volt battery. It will reduce the speed to a nice trolling speed while still giving you the desired running time depending on the mah the battery has.

Remote Control Fishing Elimination Round-“Top Hooker”

If you’ve been watching the new series on Animal Planet called “Top Hooker” you didn’t miss the elimination round 5 with “The Rc Fishing Pole”. The remaining contestants use some nifty hobby grade rc boats with “The Rc Fishing Pole”, (GO>) the last contestant to catch a fish is eliminated. Check out their strategy to use their rc fishing boat to catch fish and avoid being eliminated and risk a chance to win 30 thousand dollars and a new Chevy Truck!

What caught our attention off the bat was the way they mounted “The Rc Fishing Pole”, upside down, they also mounted a little flag on it to alert them if they had a fish on. Needless to say they were going to catch a fish!

Meet an Aussie Rc Fishing Boat Expert!

Since 2008 “gleno2008” (his YouTube handle) has Entertained us with his Awesome Homemade Remote Control Boats For Fishing!

A combination of skills, imagination, and know-how is why we’ve dubbed Gleno2008 our Rc Fishing Man of the month! He has a real knack for assembling the most extreme of all Rc fishing boats, then sharing his gripping adventures with us on YouTube for years. With cam onboard capturing every moment of his epic battles between rc boat and fish he has managed to amass over 500,00 views on his YouTube channel Mean Machines.

The Aussie Rc Fishing King!Upon closer inspection of this spectacular rc fishing machine we notice how for one he enhanced his rc boat to give it more stability. After all he likes going after big fish, so buoyancy will make a big difference when the battle ensues. A pontoon on each side attached to the body seems to do the trick. Pontoons would be easy to add to any rc boat with a simple glue gun and a couple of pop bottles, (I’ll have to try that), I remember seeing that once in a rc fishing video from 2012 featuring the Fish Fun Ed Hardy Rc Fishing Boat, and Carp Fishing. On closer inspection another feature is that his boat design incorporates what looks like a rc plane motor, giving the boat an aerodynamic feel, like a swamp boat. Why we waited so long to induct this guy into the Rc Fishing Hall of Fame I’m not sure!

“What other feature’s do we see, oh”, a built in fishing rod. Not only a regular fishing pole to pull the fish in, Glen’s designed his to rell in the fish too. A small bell on the end of his Rc Fishing Pole alerts him that he has a fish onboard, and with the flick of a button on the remote the fun begins! Five Pound Catfish Fights with Remote Control Fishing Boat!

What do you get when you mix fishing and remote control boats? Rc Fishing,…….or remote control fishing. Watch as these guys deploy their rc fishing boat called The Radio Ranger, fishing line hook, and bait. How do they attach their fishing line to the rc boat, with The RC Fishing Pole. Made by Fish Fun Co., The RC Fishing Pole attachs to any remote control boat and turns it into a remote control fishing boat. The Rc Fishing Pole allows you to extend your line far from the back of the rc boat, and has two features. One, you can tie a piece of line on the end and troll with a small hook, when you get a bite you drive the fish in tow to the shore. You can also use the line release, so instead of casting with your fishing pole, your line goes on the end of the Rc Pole, let the boat drive your line out, then release it where you want.

We,ve seen alott of great rc fishing videos this summer, but this one is a first, the fish is very big. Almost too big for the boat to pull in and gives the boat quite a challenge. You’re really not supposed to go after the big fish if you plan on pulling it in with the rc boat. You’re supposed to use the line release, then you can catch the big ones. I’d imagine it is pretty tempting to put a big hook on the line and see what bites, but as you can see in the video had the catfish been much bigger you’d have seen the boat disappear under the water.

My suggestion is that if you’re going to try that, then seal the hatch with “Hatch Tape”, available at any hobby shop. And maybe add a balloon to the end of the rc fishing pole, or use a balloon as a bobber, like the big buoys they use for shark fishing.

Back to the video, hats off to these guys for taking a big risk and seeing the reward of a five-pound catfish caught with their Radio Ranger Rc Fishing Boat!
